Urgent Eye Conditions
Eye Infections
Eye Infections are most commonly bacterial or viral.
Symptoms include: pain, blurred vision, green or watery discharge from the eye(s), redness, light sensitivity
Most eye infections are highly contagious, and children are especially susceptible to infections. Please have your eye evaluated if you think you have an infection, and make sure to wash your hands and keep them away from your eyes!
New Flashes of Light/New Floaters
New flashes of light in your side vision or NEW floaters that you have not seen before can be a sign of a retinal detachment. This may cause complete vision loss if untreated, and these symptoms can only be evaluated by an eye doctor. Please do not delay, and call or walk-in right away if you experience these symptoms.
Vision Loss
Many conditions cause either intermittent or permanent vision loss. If you experience a SUDDEN loss in vision, please call the office right away, as many of these conditions are ocular emergencies with possible long-term damage if you wait.
Seek Immediate Attention
For Any Eye Emergency
If you are experience a life-threatening eye emergency, dial 911 for immediate medical attention. For non-life-threatening eye emergencies, call Independent Optical at (605) 206-3981 right away.
